About the Role:

The Legal Intern will work on various projects to support the work of All Voting is Local in collaboration with members of our National Leadership Team (NLT). These projects will be meaningful and help to drive our mission forward. This is a great opportunity for exposure to election administration laws and voting rights. The internship will run 6/3/2024 - 8/2/2024 with working hours being 9am to 5:30pm local time Monday through Friday.  This is a remote opportunity however, interns located in the Washington D.C. area may be asked to go to the All Voting Is Local office on occasion.

What You Will Do:

  • The primary responsibility will be to support the work of the National Leadership Team to identify, research and provide relevant memos, guidance or tracking related to election administration laws, regulations and proposed legislation and policies. 
  • Track and advise leadership team on election law and voting rights litigation in state and federal court.
  • Support the leadership team in tracking and management of multi-state election administration issues and trends. 
  • Draft, review and edit public and internal documents for clarity and legal accuracy.   
What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor degree 
  • Currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Exercises a high degree of confidentiality and discretion, professionalism, integrity, diplomacy, and ethics.
  • Strong technology skills with an aptitude to learn quickly to ramp up on new platforms or technology: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides; project management platform (e.g. Asana).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an intern
  • Knowledge of federal and state election administration law
  • Familiarity with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations.

Compensation:

Stipend of $7,840.00
We are open to students who are interested in receiving credit for the internship.
